Abstract

Giberelic acid (GA3) would caused specific gene activation, so that specific mRNA formed and would triggered one or more enzim forming which regulate plant growth. Giberelic acid (GA3) would effected the total chlorophyll and respiration rate that support arrow root (Maranta arundinacea) growth. The aim of this research was to learn the effect of treatment the giberelic acid (GA3) on growth, chlorophyll content and respiration rate of arrow root (M. arundinacea L.). This research used completely randomized design with one factor that was GA3 treatment which 0 ppm, 50 ppm, 100 ppm, 150 ppm and 200 ppm concentration. The measuring variables consist of hight, amount of leaves, width of leaves, fresh weight, dry weight, amount of filial, length and amount of stomata, total chlorophyll content and respiration rate. Data was analized by analysis of varians (ANAVA) and was continued by DMRT 5%. The result of this research showed that treatment 50 ppm of giberellic acid (GA3) caused the highest of plant growth that was showed by hight plant variabel, fresh weight and dry weight of plant. Giberelic acid concentration that more higher (100, 150, 200) ppm caused decrease of plant growth. Giberelic acid treatments are not influence for chlorophyll content. Giberelic acid (GA3) with concentration 100 ppm resulting 21,05 ppm CO2/L/menit as the highest of respiration rate of arrow root (M. arundinacea).
