Abstract

Nugraha AA, Kawiji, W Atmaka. 2015. Curcuminoid content, total phenol and antioxidant activity of curcuma oleoresin (Curcuma xanthorrhiza) in various drying technique and fabric colors closing. Biofarmasi 13: 6-14. Curcuma is a medicinal plant that has many health benefits because of the content of active compounds such as curcuminoids, phenolic compounds, and antioxidants. One is by making use of curcuma oleoresin . curcuma leoresin is a mixture of oil and resins produced from curcuma shaped viscous liquid, has a sharp smell and taste like turmeric. Created with the extract of curcuma oleoresin from curcuma powder with a maceration method and then performed the separation of materials and solvents with a rotary evaporator. This study aims to determine the effect of drying techniques and cover fabric color with interaction the two of them on serum antioxidant activity, total phenol and concentration curcuminoids curcuma oleoresin. This research using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors: variety of drying techniques (solar dryer and direct sunlight) and the color of the fabric cover (without cover, black dan white linen cloth). The treatments were as follows: SMK (sun without fabric cover), SMP (Sunlight white cloth), SMH (Sunlight black cloth), SDK (solar dryer without fabric cover), SDP (Solar Dryer white cloth), SDH (Solar Dryer black cloth). The results showed that using of solar dryer and cloth covering influential on serum antioxidant activity, total phenol, and curcuminoids concentration of curcuma oleoresin. Besides, the interaction between drying techniques and cover fabric color occur on concentration of total phenol, but not on antioxidant activity and concentration of curcuminoids. Whereas, solar dryer white cloth combination has effective on drying techniques to minimize of active compounds damage of the curcuma oleoresin better than other combination.
