Diversity and distribution of macrozoobenthos in the lotic and lentic water in the area of Bandung Institute of Technology, Jatinangor, Sumedang, West Java

The river flow, which goes from upstream to downstream. The construction of artificial lake will affect the flow of the stream and part of the lotic become lentic ecosystem. This research aims to study the diversity and distribution of macrozoobenthos in river ecosystem and lentic system in the area of ITB University campus in Jatinangor, Sumedang, West Java. Research conducted from October 2013 to March 2014. In lotic system, macrozoobenthos collections were conducted by Surber net and by Ekman dredge (in lakes, mud areas). The results found 71 taxa of macrozoobenthos in lotic area and the density index was ranged from 403.96 to 4452.87 ind/m2 . In lentic habitat found 47 genera of macrozoobenthos and the density was ranged from 145.55 to 748.07 ind/m2 . Habitat condition for macrozoobenthos community in lotic habitat was 18.50±9.659 cm/sec for the river current with the highest dissolved organic (6.18±5.458%). In lentic habitat the pH was 6.37±0.055, water temperature 28.29±1.08o C, dissolved oxygen 7.34±0.393 ppm and TSS was315.00±53.161 mg/L.
