Upland rice varieties used by farmers for this is a local variety that has been grown for generations in limited quantities. The quality of local seeds are very diverse both growth and production, because of physical and genetic mixing has been unclear. The use of new varieties is one technology that was instrumental in increasing the productivity of upland rice. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the response of growth and yield of four new superior varieties of upland rice in Pandeglang, Banten. This study was conducted in the Village of Kaduela, Cadasari, Pandeglang District, Banten Province between November 2012 and March 2013. This assessment used a Randomized Block Design to four treatments, namely Situbagendit, Inpago 4, Inpago 6 and Inpago 8 with six replicates. The dosages given were Urea 250 kg/ha, SP-36 100 kg/ha and NPK Phonska 250 kg/ha, planted as jajar legowo 2: 1, a spacing of (15 x 20) cm2 , planted with a drill, with five seeds per hole. The results showed that varieties of Inpago 4 and 8 had the highest plant height and Situbagendit had the highest number of tillers. Meanwhile, Inpago 4 had the highest productivity of 3.9 t/ha Dry Grain Harvest (GKP).
