Abstract
Danarto SA, Rahadiantoro A. 2015. Plant exploration in Bawean Island, Gresik-East Java. Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 1: 974-979. Bawean is one of the small islands in the north Java, which is located in the administrative area of Gresik, East Java. It has 3831.6 hectares of forest conservation area that consists of five areas namely Gunung Mas, Alas Timur Forest, Gunung Besar, Gunung Teneden, and Gunung Payung-payung. These forests are the habitat of endemic Bawean deer, Axis kuhlii , and butterfly, Atrophaneura coon sangkapurae. The degradation of forest is indiscriminately reducing the diversity of flora and making the habitat at the verge of extinction especially Bawean Island. In this case, ex situ conservation activities can be a vital effort and appropriate step to the Technical implementation of Botanic Gardens. Inventory and diversity of flora Bawean were conducted in April 2014. During the plant collecting activities, the team found total 79 collections which comprise 63 number of seedling tree collections, 4 number of fern collections, and 12 orchid collections. New collections in Purwodadi Botanic garden were Adiantum hispidulum, Irvingia malayana, Blechnum orientale, and Picrasma sp.
