Seeds germination of Stachytarpheta spp. from Batam, Riau Islands

Abstract

The research aimed to study the seeds germination of Stachytarpheta spp. carried out in a glass house of Purwodadi Botanic Garden in November - December 2014 using completely randomized design. The treatment in this experiment was three Stachytarpheta spp. originated from Batam namely Stachytarpheta cayenensis (S1), Stachytarpheta indica (S2) and Stachytarpheta jamaicensis (S3). Each of the treatment was replicated four times and 100 seeds were used for each replication. The results showed that the seeds germination percentage of the species was significantly different, but the germination rate did not differ significantly. The seeds began to germinate at the age of 4 days after sowing and die at the age of about 5 weeks after sowing.
