Abstract

Widyastuti N, Sukarti I, Giarni R, Tjokrokusumo D. 2015. Preliminary studies on potential oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) as an immunomodulator with a sample of lymphocytes. Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 1: 1528-1531. The prevalence of cancer showed a significant increase each year and is one of the main causes of death in Indonesia. Beta glucan is a potential source to overcome cancer through its nature as an immunomodulator. Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) has been shown to contain active compounds beta-glucan which is expected to function as an immunomodulator. The purpose of this study was a preliminary study to determine the potential of oyster mushroom extracts from the mushroom farm of CV. Asa Agro Corporation-Cianjur, West Java, to increase the proliferation of lymphocytes and an indication of the potential for immunostimulation on oyster mushroom extracts. Sample dilution had been carried out with a concentration of five and 10 times. Testing of immunomodulatory activity of beta glucan extract showed lymphocyte proliferation induction value. The analysis showed that the oyster mushroom extract with a dilution of 10 times increase cell proliferation 8.97%, while the five times increased proliferation of lymphocytes 35.17% higher than without the addition of immunostimulatory cell proliferation (K). Immunostimulation activity oyster mushrooms extracts by dilution of five times was 135.17%, while the concovalin A positive control at a concentration of 10 ppm had a stimulation index 145.52%.
