Abstract

Gusmailina, Komarayati S. 2015. Exploration of organic compounds strychnine bush (Strychnos lucida) as source of medicines. Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 1: 1741-1746. Strychnos lucida synonym Strychnos ligustrina Blume) including familia Loganiaceae. This plant is also known as bidara laut, bidara pahit, bidara putih, kayu ular (Sumatra); dara laut, dara putih, bidara gunung (Jawa) lapai, and bidara mapai (Sulawesi). Traditionally people have been used the wood to treat several diseases as the legacy of his ancestors. Part of the plant is used as a drug timber. Community believes that this wood can treat/cure various diseases such as diabetes drugs, high blood pressure, malaria, cancer, and others. This paper presents the information about the potential organic compound of Strychnos lucida. The analysis was performed at the Center for Forest Products Research and Development, Bogor using Pyrolisis-GCMS. The analysis showed that the wood has 30 components of the active compound. Among the 10 compounds were predominant among others: 2,5- dimethoxybenzyl alcohol, Phenol, 2,6-dimethoxy (CAS) 2,6-Dimethoxyphenol. 3-Methoxyacetophenone, Phenol, 2,6-dimethyl-4-nitro- (CAS) 2,6-Dimethyl-4-nitrophenol, Pentanal (CAS) n-Pentanal, 2-propanone, 1- (4-hydroxy-3- Methoxyphenyl) - (CAS) 1- (4-hydroxy, Phenol, 2-methoxy- (CAS) Guaiacol, Phenol, 2,6-Dimethoxy-4- (2-propenyl) - (CAS) 4-Allyl-2,6 -dimethoxyphenol, Acetic acid (CAS) Ethylic acid, and 2-Methoxy-4-methylphenol. The results of the analysis are expected to be used as basic information for the further development of research.
