Abstract

The research was purposed to identified diversity of rattan at the natural forest area in West Java. The method used is a descriptive method with a survey as the technique of collecting data. Species of rattan which are found had been recorded and identified based on characteristics of stem and leaf morphologies. Based on the survey on rattans taxa, found 24 species of rattans in five genera, i.e., 15 species of Calamus, two species of Ceratolobus, four species of Daemonorops, two species of Korthalsia, and one species of Plectocomia. From the 24 species of rattan 22 species grew as clusters and two species are grown solitary. The status of the rarity of the rattan species uses categories and criteria according to the IUCN Red List Categories. For this reason, the planning of conservation and development of rattan species such as ex situ conservation are needed.
