Rattan-producing Indonesia biodiversity is a source of considerable foreign exchange, about 80% of the world's rattan purposes comes from Indonesia. Rattan is used as the main raw material for the manufacture of products of furniture, mats, baskets and crafts. But rattan in nature already reduced due to the exploitation of the less restrained and many rattan species of which are already nearly extinct, the conduct of species on the market, but not offset by planting. Based on the foregoing need to set the Research and Development Priority of local Important Species of Rattan. At this writing, the priorities proposed for 10 species of Java, Sumatra 16 species, Kalimantan 17 species, Sulawesi 15 species, Maluku 6 species, Papua and West Papua 7 species and Nusa Tenggara 1 species.
