Abstract

Sukiman H. 2015. The use of mycorrhizae for improving the quality of seedling and land productivity in the city area. Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 1: 2021-2026. Mycorrhizae fungus (Vascular Arbuscular Mycorrhizae) is well known because of their potential for supporting the growth of the plant. This fungus could easily found and isolated from the environment to be studied further. Research focusing on the potential of this fungus has been done by many researchers in the world. Is has been identified that mycorrhizae fungus live symbiotically with the root of plants and the fungus actually infected the roots tissues by the soft thread known as hyphae. The characteristic of symbiotic living is that the fungus will get the energy for their life from the metabolic compound producing by the host plants and on the other hand, the plants will provide by the plants nutrient absorbed from soil especially phosphate. Beside of that, the plant will provide by other micronutrients and water. This fungus also identified could protect the plants from the root diseases since the hypha could actually cover the surface of the root plants. Development of this fungus as a basic material for biofertilizer has been studied further. The technology of producing biofertilizer has been confirmed by LIPI and the product was named as BIOVAM- LIPI. The process of biofertilizer product was standardized by the percentage of root plants. Implementation of BIOVAM product has been done to many plants and gave a positive result for plants growth.
