Flora exploration activities carried out to enrich the collection in Batam Botanical Garden. Orchids are one of the target plants to be collected for Batam Botanic Gardens. This study aims to determine the diversity of the orchids in small islands around the Abang island, Batam, Riau Archipelago Province, Indonesia. The research conducted by random exploration activities at each location. Ecological data recording includes habitat, altitude, soil pH, soil moisture, and temperature. A number of living collections is taken in the field according to conditions in the field. Exploration sites are Abang Kecil Island, Abang Besar Island, Ranuh Island, Pengalap Island, Air Taung Island, Air Saga Island, and Hulu Galang Island. The results obtained 12 numbers of the orchid collection consisting of 10 genera i.e., Aerides, Arachnis, Bromheadia, Bulbophyllum, Calanthe, Coelogyne, Cymbidium, Dendrobium, Spathoglottis, and Vanilla. The orchids were found in secondary forests with quite diverse ecological conditions, the range of 1-21 m above sea level altitude, soil pH 5 to 6. 7, soil moisture 25-98%, and air temperature. 32-35oC.
