Abstract
Djafri N. 2015. Management strategies of cultural leadership in the use of maize for improving people's food genetic resources in Gorontalo Province. Pros Sem Nas Mas Biodiv Indon 1: 2051-2056. Various efforts to use natural resources should be conducted towards the farm management by the government and the various stakeholders to improve the welfare of cities and rural communities in the province of Gorontalo. Observing the success of agricultural development by the government of Gorontalo, that increased prosperity can not simply rely on the abundant agricultural resources as capital development, but it depends on the condition of human resources and management leadership in the region. Policies are always for the development agricultural sector as a source of economic potential, plays an important role in realizing the development goals in the region. Culture-based agricultural development policies (local wisdom) of corn food security in Gorontalo highly dependent on concepts and ideas from local leaders that the management strategies in utilizing corn should aim to improve the community food resources in the province of Gorontalo. The concept of management strategy by the leaders in managing Gorontalo provincial government in relation to the development of maize into potential commodities proved to be a driver of the region's economy and a symbol of the success of change towards a prosperous farmer. Maize has become the hallmark of regional pride and directly provide a multiplier effect for the development of other economic sectors as well as improve the overall performance of the regional development. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive. The data used is survey data from primary and secondary sources that can be obtained in the field and literature research previously. The study found that the pattern of development of leadership management strategies in the utilization of genetic resources of maize as food from the local community in Gorontalo province has improved the welfare of people in the region..
