Abstract
Jannah R, Suwirmen, Noli ZA. 2016. The effect of Cu2+ as an elicitor to Artemisia vulgaris callus in the provision of artemisinin as antimalarial. Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 2: 155-158. The research of the effect of Cu2+ as an elicitor to Artemisia vulgaris callus in the provision of artemisinin as antimalarial had been done in August 2015 until February 2016 at Plant Physiology and Tissue Culture Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Organic Chemistry Laboratory of Nature Materials, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Andalas, Padang. The aim of the research was to find the best concentration of Cu2+ as elicitor to increase artemisinin production of callus Artemisia vulgaris L. on MS medium. The research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments consisted of 0 ppm, 2.5 ppm, 5 ppm, 7.5 ppm and 10 ppm of Cu2+. The results showed that the highest content of artemisinin was 0.00790% with the addition of 7.5 ppm Cu2+.
