The conversion of forests to agricultural, plantation and mining areas in East Kalimantan threatens orchid habitat so that it becomes the attention of local communities around forest areas to save orchid populations from the threat of extinction. The survey of orchid conservation by local community was conducted in Empas Village, East Kalimantan in August 2018. The survey showed that there were 29 genera, 52 species with 381 numbers with a total specimen of 591 specimens orchid. The conclusion of this survey is local communities who are aware of conservation have a role in orchid conservation so that support from the government and the private sector is needed.
