Abstract. Wawan BP, Amin M. 2018. Development reseach of Lamuru maize in Kutai Kartanegara to support the production improvement in East Kalimantan. Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 5: 303-306. This development research on non-hybrid corn in Kutai Kartanegara was aimed to review the development of superior maize variety to improve the maize production in East Kalimantan. This research investigated the growth of Lamuru superior maize variety in Tenggarong Seberang, Kutai Kartanegara, East Kalimantan during the dry season in 2018. One planting hole was filled with single one-month old maize seed using 2:1 jajar legowo planting method within a planting gap of 40 x 20 x 80 cm, resulting in as many as 83333 plant population. The total plotting area was 1800 m2. The data obtained from research were analyzed using variance test. There result of the research showed that the most optimal Lamuru maize production research (10.32 t/ha) compared to the variety description with a production of 5.6 t/ha and a production potential of 7.6 t/ha. This production was also enhanced by fine production components including the weigh of the corn cobs and kernel. Lamuru maize provided maize seeds that can be continuously used in every planting. Regarding to this benefit, Lamuru maize was considered as a good alternative for the development of maize plant to improve maize production.
