Abstract. Widianto MM, Husodo T, Megantara EN, Wulandari I, Atsaury ZIA, Febrianto P. 2022. Daily activity variation of Javan gibbon (Hylbobaes moloch) by age class and sex in Cisokan, West Java, Indonesia. Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 8: 71-79. Cisokan is an area with fragmented habitat because of the hydropower development project and the agroforestry activities of nomadic communities. In connection with the threatened habitat of the Javan gibbon (Hylobates moloch Audebert, 1798) in Cisokan, information about daily activities is needed as one of the supports for the conservation of the Javan gibbon in this area. The purpose of this study was to provide information about the daily activities of the Javan gibbon based on age class and sex in the Cisokan area. Scan sampling and ad libitum methods were used to get daily activity data. The results obtained in this study are the Javan gibbons in Cisokan start their daily activities at 06.30 and end at 17.30. Based on the category of daily activities carried out by Javan gibbons, resting activities are most often carried out by adult males (38%), moving activities by adult males (31%), feeding activities by individual children (26%), and social activities by females adults (19%). The use of the Javan gibbon's daily activity time will vary individually according to age, sex, social status, and habitat conditions. The pattern of use of the daily activity time of the three Javan gibbon individuals observed did not show a bimodal pattern (there were two peak times for each Javan gibbon activity).
